Sharpening and Use of Hand Planes
At our March meeting, the Capital Area Woodworkers Guild held a mallet swap, and it was a hit! Any member who brought in a mallet drew a number and took home one made by another guild member.
Each of us had the chance to share a little about the mallet we crafted—whether it was the type of wood used, a unique design choice, or a story behind it. It was a great way to showcase our skills, learn from one another, and walk away with a handcrafted tool made by a fellow woodworker.
Thanks to everyone who participated! If you missed this one, don’t worry—there’s always more hands-on fun ahead
We had an absolutely fantastic time at this year's Christmas party, which was held at the beautiful Island Bay Yacht Club. The setting provided a warm and festive atmosphere for all who attended.
A highlight of the evening was the incredible display of handcrafted gifts made by our talented Guild members. Guests were truly impressed by the craftsmanship and creativity showcased in each item. My wife was especially amazed at the quality and thoughtfulness of these gifts—what a wonderful way to celebrate the season and our shared passion for woodworking!
The food and staff at the Island Bay Yacht Club were outstanding. From delicious appetizers to a mouthwatering main course, every dish was a treat. The staff’s attentive service added an extra touch of elegance to the evening.
